I grew up in a family that valued art. My great aunt painted beautifully intricate china patterns and my father was a sculptor, designer, and musician. My initial career goal was to be a musician in a symphony orchestra, but after working with children in a summer camp as a music counselor, I decided to pursue teaching. For 35 years I taught in the public school system as a special education teacher and a middle school English teacher. In the summer of 2012, I retired from teaching and moved to the Oregon Coast, where I now pursue my passion of jewelry-making, enjoy daily walks on the beach, revel in the beauty of the birdsong and crashing waves outside my windows, and seek new adventures with my husband and three cats.
